Literature management and knowledge organization with Citavi Web and Citavi Desktop
The Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences offers all students and employees a campus license for the Citavi literature management system as a service. Citavi is a software for literature management and knowledge organization. The system supports literature research as well as the effective indexing and integration of research results into scientific work. Citavi especially enables several users to work together on a literature database in team projects.
With the help of Citavi, you can, among other things, export and manage title data from subject databases and library catalogs, save and access PDF full texts directly in Citavi, insert literature citations into your own work, and create literature lists for seminar papers, theses, dissertations, applications, and so on.
Additional programs, such as Citavi Picker, can be used to transfer web pages, text excerpts, graphics, and bibliographical references from various programs into the literature management program with a single click.
The Citavi campus license is available free of charge to all members of the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences - students, faculty, and staff.
Citavi is available as a desktop version and as a web version. With Citavi Web, you can work completely online - regardless of your operating system, whether Mac OS, Windows, or Linux. All you need is a current browser.

The Citavi campus license is available free of charge to all members of the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences - students, faculty, and staff. The license includes both the desktop version (for Windows) and the web version of Citavi. With the web version you can work independently of your operating system (no matter if Mac OS, Windows or Linux). The current license period is valid until 12/31/27.
Citavi runs as a desktop version on the Windows operating system. In the web version you can work on Apple, Windows and Linux operating systems. Installation is necessary only for the desktop version (Windows).
Step 1: Download and install Citavi (desktop version for Windows only)
First download "Citavi" here. Then install Citavi on your computer.
Step 2: Request your personal license key
Then order your personal license key for the full version. Please note: When requesting the license key, it is necessary to prove your affiliation with the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück by providing your personal university e-mail address (e.g. max.mustermann@hs-osnabrueck.de).

When you're on the web, you can capture titles with just a few clicks using Picker. Citavi Picker comes in four versions for Edge, Firefox, Chrome, and Adobe Reader / Adobe Acrobat. You get the Picker directly when you install Citavi. With the Picker you include the current Internet document as a new title in Citavi. What's more, the Picker finds every ISBN and DOI on Internet pages and displays the Citavi icon behind it. You click on it, and Citavi searches for the title information on the web for you.
